my grandpa died last week. his funeral was yesterday. this is from my uncle Don's eulogy for his dad, my grandpa:
"my fatherwas a great man. a GREAT man. ...graduated from Jolley High School number one in his class. Not in the top 1%, but literally the top graduate period. It wasn't until later that us kids learned that there were only 8 in his class!!!!"
he tried to enlist 3 times in the army, gave up, and went into the lumber business. he left this years later to work as a salesman for a very small metal building company in Wisconsin. two weeks ago he had a talk with my uncle don saying "Cash in must exceed cash out!!!"
in 1995 he retired as the Vice Chairman and Cheif Operating Officer of United Dominion Industries.
Also from my uncle's eulogy:He eventually joined myself in forming a company that again bears his name: Kelley Fleet Services. He also became the head of the Charlotte area Habitat for Humanity division.
his brother is still the president and C.E.O. of that lumber company.
